Unleash Your Creativity: Join My Free Photography Class at Cupertino Library

Unleash Your Creativity

Have you ever looked at the smartphone in your hand and realized you’re carrying a professional-grade creative studio in your pocket? This is why I am leading a free photography class at the Cupertino Library—to show you that this “little tool” is incredibly powerful for boosting your creativity once you know how to unlock its potential.

As a professional photographer with 15 years in business (and someone who has been passionately playing with light and composition for 28 years total), I am constantly amazed by what modern smartphones can do.

Honestly, where did the time go? It just occurred to me that my relationship with the camera is the longest relationship I’ve ever been in. This partnership has survived the worst and the best; the camera has been with me through my darkest moments, helping me process the world and get through them.

I have been in this game so long that I have personally navigated the evolution from developing film to mastering digital to carrying a pocket-sized studio in my hand—and yes, I even use AI now, which is how I designed the flyer for this class! My extensive relationship with the lens means I know how to use these tools not just for “taking pictures,” but for powerful, intentional storytelling, and I want to share that knowledge with you

How to Register for this Free Photography Class in Cupertino

I am thrilled to announce that I will be leading a free photography class at the Cupertino Library! This workshop is designed for anyone aged 13 and up who wants to elevate their mobile photography game. Like all programs at the public libraries this program is absolutely free for you to attend, however the library requires that you register so they know how many people to expect. Please use the button below to register!

  • Who: Open to ages 13+
  • What: We will dive deep into the essential rules of photography (like composition and lighting) that apply whether you use a smartphone or a $5,000 camera.
  • The Tech: We will go over specific iPhone camera settings that most people never touch, but that make a massive difference in your final image.
  • Editing: Taking the photo is only half the battle. We will also talk about editing—how to use mobile tools to make your colors pop and your subjects stand out.

My Experience with Smartphone Photography Workshops

This isn’t my first time sharing the “magic” of mobile photography with the Santa Clara County community I have previously led successful smartphone photography workshops throughout the area, helping students realize that the best camera is truly the one you have with you.

From teaching creative thinking to business fundamentals, my goal is always to ensure that abstract artistic concepts become tangible, real-world skills you can use immediately.

In a world saturated with images, learning the language of photography allows you to tell your own unique story in your own unique way.
Whether you’re looking to improve your social media presence or just want to capture the beauty of everyday life, I always design my classes so they provide the foundation you need.

Can’t Get Enough? Let’s Keep the Shutter Clicking!

If you thought I was done after the morning session in Cupertino, think again, because why have a quiet Saturday when you can spend the whole day talking about the art of the lens?

Shutter Up and Move On: The DSLR Manual Mode Workshop

For those of you who have a “big camera” sitting in a bag because that Auto Mode button feels like a safe security blanket—it’s time to be brave! Later that same afternoon, I’ll be leading a deep-dive session called “Shutter Up and Move On”.

We are going to demystify the “scary” side of your DSLR and finally learn how to move into Manual Mode. We’ll master the exposure triangle, learn how to control your depth of field, and finally get those professional results you’ve been dreaming of.

Whether we are working with the super-computer in your pocket or the powerhouse DSLR in your hand, my goal is the same: to help you see the world through a more creative lens. It’s going to be a busy, caffeine-fueled day of teaching, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
