The Twist of Fate: My small business video marketing partnership with Toole’s Garage
Have you ever had one of those moments where a project feels like it was just meant to be? That’s exactly how I feel about the work I did for Toole’s Garage in Valley Springs and Jackson, CA.
When you’re a small business owner, especially in a small town or an area, you constantly look for ways to support your community. That’s why I co-founded KidBiz Hub last year. Through my work there, I met amazing small business owners from the Valley Springs Area Business Association – Audra from Toole’s Garage was one of them. A few days before Audra called, my daughter and I visited our local college to learn more about career paths for auto mechanics and welders. I came home thinking how awesome it would be if we could connect with a local professional to get her started, and to test if this is really something she wants to do… and then the call happened.
It took us only one phone call to totally connect over community and family values, and before I knew it, Audra and Dave offered my daughter an internship! Well, okay, I did kindly ask if they would be interested in taking her under their wings, since she got this crazy idea of going to local community college to dabble with welding and auto mechanics. Don’t ask me where she got it… Well… actually, I know where she got it… And it is absolutely my fault. Anyway, as a mama, seeing a fantastic local business genuinely invest in my kids’ future education and experience is just incredible. It showed me they truly value the next generation. I just loved them from that first phone call.
Now, let’s talk about the promo video. Because of that trust and connection, we decided to team up on a promo video for their local shops. Dave, who is brilliant at what he does, understands the power of small business video marketing. He’s known in the auto world for putting real effort and resources into video, and he’s built his great reputation on it!
What makes this small business video marketing story so special

Since the very beginning of having this idea, I felt like Audra and Dave were very prepared and knew what they were doing. Duh! They had their script and vision laid out. They knew what they wanted, but they also let me do “me.” They gave me the creative freedom to do my job.
But that’s only half the story! Here’s the really special part:
The Family Crew: Just like at Toole’s Garage, my business is a family affair. I literally started my business with my younger daughter glued to my hip. In one hand my camera, in the other my six-month baby—wanted it or not, that’s how I rolled! So, when bringing my two daughters to the shoot was not considered an inconvenience, but rather a chance to support another small business, I was even more amazed with Audra, Dave, and their son Beau! As a multi-generational business themselves, they understand the importance of giving young people that real-world experience, outside of a closed classroom, and as young as possible!
This whole project wasn’t just a business transaction; it’s two local companies – two families – supporting each other, mentoring the next generation, and spreading a message of trust and quality. That shared commitment to community and education is what truly sets both our businesses apart.
Promo video is like a sneak-peek into the heart of your business
Here is the promo video my family created for Dave and Audra:
The goal of this promo video was to capture the professionalism, the commitment to the community, clients and their employees, and the genuine heart of Toole’s Garage. That’s the stuff that sticks with people!
If you’re a local business owner looking to grow, remember this: the best small business video marketing strategy is built on authenticity and trust. It’s about showing the real you and the real why behind your brand
